The Washington State Legislature saw four attacks on BDS in the 2017-8 session, including an anti-boycott bill announced in December by then-Senator Michael Baumgartner, House Joint Memorial 4004 and House Joint Memorial 4009 condemning the BDS Movement, and a Governors Against BDS statement issued by Governor Inslee.
None of the legislative measures moved forward. Governor Inslee did ultimately sign the Governors Against BDS letter.
CURRENT ISSUES
The 2021-22 session began in January 2021. The first year of each session tends to see more new legislation introduced, so WAPR continues to monitor the State Legislature for new anti-BDS or other anti-Palestinian-rights bills and resolutions.
